Fibromyalgia can be very painful and also be thought of as many different types of other diseases and medical issues that are both common and uncommon. A great doctor in any field can be fooled since the disease takes many shapes, It can affect different parts of the body and even seem to move throughout the body. When teens begin to complain of having health issues, you may write it off as growing pains. However, when those growing pains continue throughout the years, you should be wondering if it is still normal.
It is not normal to have constant pain, and your child is not faking being sick to simply get out of doing some things, especially if it is something you know they love. Most parents do not stop to take notice until it is too late. Writing off any pain for long periods of time is not good. Your young teen should be seen by a doctor who has the willingness to follow through and listen to every issue that has happened. A doctor who rushes to prescribe heavy doses of medication is not the one you should be listening to. It will take several tests and some time to determine if your child is indeed affected by Fibromyalgia.
Your teen may have feelings that they are going or seem crazy because of the pain. You should remind them that it will take time to figure out how to deal with the disease. A change in lifestyle is more than likely needed or required. It will take time to deal with this tricky and hard to label disease.
