Fibromyalgia Symptoms

Fibromyalgia is a condition of muscle pain that can be all over one's body and make everyday tasks very difficult. It is not known what causes this but occurs in many people over the U.S. There is now an FDA treatment called Lyrica for adults. The most common side effects are weight gain, dizziness, swelling, blurred vision, and dry mouth. Some possible causes that have been researched but not confirmed are possible changes to the central nervous system. There are electronic signals that are sent to the brain and when the nerves get damaged, they send extra signals. These extra signals are not what healthy nerves would send and would then cause pain.

Nerve damage occurs from either a viral or bacterial infection, or an injury. The symptoms that occur in fibromyalgia are chronic pain throughout the body, sore muscles, tenderness, flu-like aching, and some experience problems sleeping. The symptoms are so wide spread that there are other possible symptoms of fatigue and menstrual cramping which could be linked to other associated conditions of fibromyalgia.

Fibromyalgia cannot be detected through an x-ray or blood test. Fibromyalgia is usually found in other conditions such as Rheumatoid arthritis. To be diagnosed with fibromyalgia, the pain would have to of lasted for more than three months in 11 to 18 parts of your body. Since there are so many factors involved and not just one test can determine the condition, it is best to see your doctor and have them ascertain what your diagnosis is.
