Fibromyalgia is a disease with symptoms to arthritis. There are several points or places on a body which doctors can use to diagnose this disease. It has been around many years but has just recently been accepted as an actual medical problem. Someone with fibromyalgia usually complains of fatigue, sleeping problems and touchy, hurtful places on the body. Acupuncture has helped some sufferers while others use prescribed medication and still others use different supplements.
Pain management is different for each sufferer. Several things can be helpful. Exercise can help by keeping the body moving and getting the blood flowing. Diet consisting of low carb and high protein can help. Heating pads aide in the treatment of fibro. Heat helps to ease the muscle and joint tension. Topical pain medications will give some relief. Massage therapy helps. A sufferer of fibromyalgia has to try different ways to ease the pain. What works for one will not necessarily work for all. The pain from fibro is real and must be treated as a real disease.
Coping with Fibromyalgia is difficult. One helpful way is to create a plan that will work and learn to fall back on that plan. List things that will help take your mind off exactly how you feel and hurt and put you in a better frame of mind. Have books to read or movies to watch when these attacks seem to disable and put you under more stress. Also, don't try to cope on your own. Have friends or family members you can confide in when you are under bad attacks and this will help prevent that lonely and alone feeling that so much pain puts you in. Help is out there, it just takes trial and error to find what will work.
