Fibromyalgia is a disease that is just starting to become recognized by the medical community. For the longest time, it was unknown if it was truly its own diagnosis or a combination of other diseases that had similar symptoms. The energy sapping, painful bones and chronic pain associated with fibromyalgia is now a formal medical diagnosis.
Understanding the disease makes it even more urgent for many people to understand how it can be avoided or prevented to begin with. The formal medical answer to whether or not fibromyalgia can be avoided is that as of this point in time, there is no known way to avoid or prevent fibromyalgia. It is unknown how it picks one patient over another and in all studies it is undetermined how to prevent it. However, there are some schools of thought that are not scientifically proven that medical doctors recommend to their patients which are their beliefs regarding how to possibly prevent fibromyalgia. Good sleep habits are the number one suggestion to avoid fibromyalgia and, in fact, many studies are on-going to study this impact. In addition, many doctors believe that good diet and exercise are key ingredients for potentially preventing it as well.
Since fibromyalgia is in its infancy as a diagnosis, medically speaking, there is still much that is unknown about the origins of the disease and for now that includes any clear guidelines to help prevent the illness. However, in general, the belief is that good life habits might help to prevent it from occurring.
