Fibromyalgia Affects Many

As a Fibromyalgia patient you may often feel like you are alone; well you're not. In fact, there are many research programs out there just for those who suffer from this syndrome.

Due to the feeling like you are alone, depression many times plays a part in the Fibromyalgia patients' life. This can lead to heightened symptoms and feelings of isolation. The very best thing one can do is to find a good support group to be a part of. Even if it's an on-line group, at least you will have someone to talk to, bounce questions off of and be reassured that you aren't alone.

It wasn't long ago that the standard answer from the doctor was that the pain of Fibromyalgia was 'in your head.' They have since found that it is a real, insidious syndrome that can rob one of independence, self-esteem and a full, productive life. They have come a long way in the treatment of Fibromyalgia. These treatments can, and usually do, include pain management, counsellings and realizing that this is a real problem. Support groups are more readily available, research is more prevalent and you can get into study groups for it as well. It is a syndrome that one can learn to cope with and live a normal life.

The feelings of being alone can soon be vanquished by the support groups one can find the research going on and the improved treatment plans that Rheumatologists are coming up with. There are also now some medications that are specifically designated as good treatments for Fibromyalgia. So, take heart and know that you are not alone.
