Fibromyalgia is pain throughout the body from an unknown cause or origin. It is suspected that it is a genetic predisposition that brings it about but this theory is not proven. Major depression seems to go hand in hand with fibromyalgia. There is no known cure for this disease but there are a number of ways to manage it. Sleep disturbances and high stress levels are also major keys or subsymptons of fibromyalgia.
It is well documented that the pain usually does not completely go away. This is a non-life threatening disease, even with that information it brings little comfort for the pain. It occurs more often in women than men and generally comes up in the earlier years of adulthood, though in reality it can occur anytime and does not go away once diagnosed and treatment begins.
The Arthritis Foundation is one organization that offers education and coping suggestions for this disease. There are a number of home remedies that have been tried and people swear by for pain relief. Though there is not documented proof by an official organized study to support the claims, several people use them. Alternative methods also have received endorsements for the ability for pain relief. Restless leg syndrome is one condition that overlaps fibromyalgia. Most who have fibromyalgia also usually have restless leg syndrome. When the condition is at its most active, the sensitivity to pain can cause insomnia and major sleep disorders that cause brain fog. When brain fog sets in the sufferer is usually unable to work, looses short term memory abilities and skills and can fall asleep at any point without warning.
